Assam successfully completes 20 Lakh Coronavirus tests

With a great achievement in the fight against COVID-19, Assam completes 20 lakh tests over the past five months, taking Assam's per million tests to 58,356 on Tuesday, 25th August.

Informing about this proud moment the health minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “ASSAM COMPLETES 20 LAKH #COVID TESTS!

The first test lab of Assam was set up on February 7 and it took 114 days to complete the first one lakh tests. The state has achieved the remarkable feat of conducting 20 lakh tests with 17 laboratories today.

Assam reported 1,879 new coronavirus cases on Monday 24th August 2020, the state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. Since the first coronavirus case was detected, Assam has registered 92,619 cases.
A total of 28670 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate stood at 6.55 percent. Of the 1,879 confirmed cases, maximum cases were from Kamrup M- 471; Dibrugarh- 143; Jorhat- 138; and Cachar- 133. Of the 92,619 confirmed cases, 21464 are still active and 70900 have recovered from the disease.
