Assam: Suspected Bangladeshi 'Intruder' Shot Dead Near Indo-Bangla Border

Karimganj, August 25, 2019:

In a recent development, a suspected Bangladeshi intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) posted at Fulkandi Border Out Post close to Indo-Bangladesh border of Karimganj District of Assam.

The intruder was shot while a group of cattle smugglers trying to cut the fence and enter Indian territory. The deceased is yet to be identified. This incident took place at around 1:00 am on Sunday morning.

As per official reports, 3 sharp daggers, 1 fencing cutter, and android mobile have been recovered from the intruder. A group of 15 to 20 cattle smuggler tried to enter Indian Territory on Saturday night by cutting border fencing. during which the BSF tried to stop them and fired at them. During this, 1 cattle smuggler died, while the rest managed to escape.

Speaking to media, DSP Sudhanya Suklabaidya said, “Last night at the Fulkandi BSF camp, about 1 and a half km away, near 1382 pillar no. we found two Bangladeshis. We recovered mobile, cable and other things. They were near the fencing. We found the body here. The investigation is on. The details are yet to be confirmed. The local people told us. They are suspected Bangladeshis. There were around 15-20 guys but they fled.”
