According to our reports, the firing occurred last night around 11.45 pm at Mailu village under Langting Police station of Dima Hasao district, around 100 kms away from the district's headquarters, Haflong.

"The DNLA had tried to extort money from the company...however, they did not receive the money. So, around midnight, they reportedly opened fire on the company's workers. The authorities went there to take stock of the situation and the site, located around 100 kms away from Haflong, was also visited by para-military forces...the situation seems to have turned grim in the area and fear is palpable..", a source from Dima Hasao informed Inside Northeast.

It has been reported that earlier, the authorities of the Elite Construction company were charged money by the millions, and they were targeted due to their refusal to comply.
