BAKSA: Teachers from Baksa district of Assam have expressed shock at the former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary's allegations that they paid bribes to the former Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary for the regularization of their teaching posts.

After Biswajit Daimary, the former Working President and one of the strongest pillars of the BPF party, left his party to join the BJP, Hagrama was quick to accuse him of taking Rs. 4 crore 34 lakh for the regularization of teachers' posts way back in 1999.

Organizing a press meet, teachers from the Baksa district slammed the former BTC Chief for his statement against Daimary. "We never had such dealings with Daimary in the first place, which is why it is wrong to accuse teachers of giving bribes to secure their jobs," one of the teachers said.

"Politicians are making acuusatiions against us at rallies which is something that has caused us immense grief. We are stuggling to make ends meet here and provide education for our children. Therefore, our names should not be brought up and politicized," said another teacher.

Daimary also quit from his post as the Rajya Sabha MP after his decision to join the BJP party ahead of the elections in the BTC became public.
