He directed the Social Welfare Department to take steps in consultation with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to provide academic & other support to the rescued children.

"The children will be sent to different hostels or children shelters after the recommendation of CWC Chirang in a day or two, he stated.

The parents who are willing to take their children home are also welcome, informed the Chief Minister. The state government has also provided financial assistance to the parents to make sure that they do not have to send away their other children for money.

The Assam Chief Minister said that he will pay a visit to the villages along the Indo-Bhutan borders in the month of September to take up initiatives for more economic activities to reduce the problem of poverty.

He further thanked the BTC Chief Pramod Boro for their assistance in this rescue operation.

Speaking in the occasion, Sarma said, "Our job is not finished yet. 80 children were taken and we were able to rescue 42. Search for the rest of the kids is still on. We have traced 10 more kids".

The Assam government will continue to work relentlessly against drugs and human trafficking, further said the Chief Minister.
