Assam to provincialise service of 20,000 school teachers

GUWAHATI: Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently made an announcement regarding the provincialisation of service of around 20 thousand school teachers in the state.

Addressing the inaugural function of Orunodoi scheme at Amingaon in Kamrup district, Dr. Sarma said that the Assam government has decided to While addressing the inaugural function of Orunodoi scheme at Amingaon, the minister informed that the state government has decided to provincialise the posts of 20,000 teachers this month.

Sarma further added that in parallel, arrangements will be made to recruit 15,000 new teachers. It is to be noted that the state government has already sanctioned 2812 teachers for 355 new schools.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced that Rs. 50,000 would be deposited in the accounts of women self-help groups in December under the Women’s Empowerment Scheme. According to Assam government an amount of Rs. 630 crore has already been released for the scheme and earlier these women self-help groups received Rs. 25,000.
