GUWAHATI: The newly formed regional party, Raijor Dal today addressed a press meet in Guwahati briefing their key points in response to the governor's statement, which was provided in a written form by Akhil Gogoi, the party's jailed MLA of the Sivasagar constituency.

Since Akhil Gogoi was unable to attend or participate in the assembly, and their observations were not made public so he submitted a written statement to the Assembly speaker outlining Gogoi and his party's views to the governor's statement.

Here are the key points of the written statement of the party:

  • Despite the state government's declaration that the administration will make Assam one of India's top five states in the next five years, no political or economic vision of development was seen in Assam.
  • Akhil Gogoi demanded a special session of the Assam Legislative Assembly on four issues--The state government's role and failures in resistance of COVID-19, Annual flood havoc free Assam, unemployment free Assam and how would Assam be one of India's top five states.
  • There is a call to make Sivasagar district a tourist destination.
  • The BJP government's slogan and commitment to creating the greatest Assam have failed so far, as evidenced by the fact that the BJP government has repeated the phrase this year.
  • Assam tops school dropout rate in the country.
  • Assam state BJP government was not prepared either aware of the second wave of COVID-19.
  • Those who lost their jobs due to COVID lockdown shall be provided with the one-time financial assistance of Rs 50,000 and people below the poverty line shall be provided with foodgrain or ration during the pandemic.
