Assam: Udalguri deputy commissioner tests COVID-19 positive

The deputy commissioner of Udalguri district in Assam, Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia has been tested positive for the COVID-19. As per information, he was under home quarantine for last few days.

He has been transferred and posted as Secretary, State Election Commission and Purabi Konwar has now been transferred and posted as the deputy commissioner, Udalguri.

As per information, the Superintendent of Police Ripul Das is also under quarantine.

The district has reported 65 confirmed COVID-19 cases; of which 63 are active and two have been cured and recovered so far, according to the data provided by the Government of Assam in its website.

Assam currently has 6370 confirmed COVID-19 cases; of which 2400 are active cases while 3958 have been cured and recovered and nine died due to the infection in the state so far.

India COVID-19 cases so far

India recorded 418 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 16,922 new Covid19 positive cases reported in India in the last 24 hours. Positive cases in India stand at 4,73,105 including 1,86,514 active cases, 2,71,697 cured/discharged/migrated & 14,894 deaths. 75,60,782 samples tested till 24th June. 2,07,871 samples tested in the last 24 hours: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 6 thousand deaths. It has recorded 142900 corona cases with 73792 cured, 6739 deaths, and 62369 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 70390 cases with 41437 cured, 2365 deaths, and 26588 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 67468 positive cases with 37763 cured, 866 deaths 28839 active cases. Gujarat with 28943 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 21088 have been cured, 1735 deaths, and 6120 active cases.
