Assam: ULFA Militant Planning Explosions During Durga Puja Nabbed by Security Forces

Tinsukia, October 8, 2019:

Based on a specific input about the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA- I) targeting security forces this festive season, a joint operation was led by Tinsukia Police in Tarani area.

Noticing the suspicious movement of an individual, the joint team chased and apprehended an individual along with his backpack near Chikarajan area.

The apprehendee has been identified as Self-Styled Sergeant of ULFA, Sabdo Asom, alias Jonki Borah.

During interrogation, Sabdo Asom revealed that he was tasked to target security forces and vital installations through bomb blasts on an "immediate basis".

The team seized a huge quantity of arms and explosives from his possession. These include two electric detonators, two IED circuits, three Battery set 9.6 V (6 battery each ), one remote control with 9 V Sony brand battery, one insulation Tape (red colour), one Duct tape, two loose cable set, 12 Kg approx TNT explosive in 3 packets , one utensil, a torch, one backpack, and a handbag.
