GUWAHATI: In an interesting twist, AIUDF legislator Sirajuddin Ajmal Monday stated that Assam will progress under the governance of current Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Why would I mind if somebody is doing something good”, he said while interacting with media on the Assembly premises. “Our Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is doing really well. He has taken up some really good initiatives and schemes”, he said.
Appreciating the Chief Minister’s ongoing initiatives, the MLA further said, “You just see! Assam will progress under his governance.”
Ajmal’s comments have come as a surprise as in the run-up to the 2021 Assembly polls in March of this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam launched a scathing campaign against the AIUDF which it tagged as pro “illegal migrant.”
Ajmal further added that he is against BJP, both politically and ideologically. However, if a Chief Minister or Prime Minister is doing good even if he or she is from BJP, then he won’t hesitate to appreciate it. “Why should a good thing not be told as good”, added the MLA.
In the run-up to the elections, present chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal had left no stone unturned to defame each other.
Continuing further, the MLA went on to say that former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal lacked ‘common sense.
Commenting about the upcoming by-poll elections, the MLA said that there will be no common candidate against BJP, “That is my personal opinion. Lurinijyoti has his.”
“This will prove to be an extra advantage for BJP”, he added.
