GUWAHATI: Assamese language movie ‘God on the Balcony’ has been selected for the 24th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival, 2021.
The film to be featured in the festival’s Panorama section along with eight other Indian films.
The film directed and written by Biswajeet Bora made with a budget of Rs. 10,000,000 was released on January 15, 202, with Pranami Bora, Suneet Bora in the lead cast.
The film is set in a remote village in Assam, India. It revolves around Khagen, a farmer, whose wife dies in an incident. He struggles to carry the dead body on his bicycle back home from the hospital due to the unavailability of an ambulance. As he walks through the pebbled roads with the body and his young daughter, he comes across two reporters and as a result, their journey turns to a different battle altogether.
The critically acclaimed film was applauded globally and received many positive reviews.
The was also selected for the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala, 24th Kolkata International Film Festival, 19th Pune International Film Festival, Madrid and 19th Dhaka International Film Festival.
