Guwahati, September 2, 2019:

The Jamaat-E-Ulama-E-Assam condemned Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and MP Asaduddin Owaisi for "misleading the world by false and baseless statements and triggering panic regarding NRC". This, the Jamaat alleged, is an attempt "to tarnish the image of india."

"We tell them to stop their interference in our matter. As Assam has more than 4 lakhs Moulanas, Islamic Scholars, Hafiz, Qari and Mufti. Everyone is happy. We don't need to learn Islam and humanity from Imran Khan and Asaduddin Owaisi", the Jamaat added.

The President of Jamaat-E-Ulama-E-Assam, Mufti Ebadur Rahman Qasmi, expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Court, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) Chief Coordinator Prateek Hajela and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for publishing a "fair" NRC on Saturday.

"The Government took admirable steps to provide legal aid to the needy people amongst those excluded from NRC irrespective of their castes, color or religion. Minorities in Assam are very happy with this laudable decision of the Government", read the Communique.
