DISPUR: Assam's chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today revealed that the next SOP relating to the COVID-19 lockdown -- which will be announced tomorrow -- will focus on curbing the rate of infections in the districts where the second wave of the virus is still very much prevalent.

Biswa Sarma addressing media here earlier, said that the state government will hold discussions on formulating new SOPs for the next phase of Lockdown. The next SOP, Biswa Sarma said, will focus on the districts where the number of COVID-19 cases is still pretty high.

"Yesterday, we had 2,300 COVID-19 cases. Out of those, 600 cases were from Golaghat and Jorhat. If we set Golaghat and Jorhat aside, and if the cases in Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, and Dibrugarh decrease, we can say that COVID-19 cases are under control. The total cases will decrease to 1,500-1,600," Sarma said.
