IMPHAL: The Joint Action Committee declared a 24-hour statewide shutdown in Manipur against the brutal murder of former president of Zeliangrong Baudi Athuan Abonmai. The statewide total shutdown will come into effect from midnight of October 3 till October 4.
In an official statement, JAC informed that their representatives met the Chief Minister Biren Singh twice and submitted their charter of demands and conveyed their position to the CM.
The Chief Minister reportedly assured the JAC of appropriate actions against anyone involved in the brutal killing of Athuan Abonmai on September 22 .
The JAC also questioned why the Government was so reluctant to tackle the matter despite the assurance they had given to the representatives of the JAC.
The JAC urged all the CSO, individuals and local organisations irrespective of caste and creed to stand firm in condemning the gruesome abduction and murder of Athuan Abonmai and in seeking justice to the late Zeliangrong Baudi leader.
