In an interesting development, a famous Bangladeshi actress, Anju Ghosh, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kolkata on June 5 in the presence of BJP West Bengal President Dilip Ghosh.

During the event which was also broadcast live on social media platform Facebook, Ghosh was handed over a BJP flag.

The 63-year-old, who has not starred in any film for quite a long time, is living in Salt Lake, The Indian Express said.

It may be mentioned that when she was asked by the media about her present citizenship status, she refused to speak.

In 1989, her film ‘Beder Meye Josna’ (Josna, the gypsy's daughter), made a record of being the highest grossing film in Bangladeshi film history.

On the other hand, a popular Bangladeshi actor was ordered to leave India after he was seen campaigning for the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Famous Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed's business visa was cancelled by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and a notice was issued to him to immediately leave the country.
