B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati gets 550 ltr per hour hot & cold water point

GUWAHATI: Team Khalsa Centre North East, known for their efforts to find new ways to help the needy set up a beautiful water point in the premises of Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati with four water coolers and a geyser that will provide 550 litres of filtered cold and hot water every hour to the needy around the clock.

Dr. AC Kataki, Director of BBCI lauded the continued efforts of the entire Khalsa Centre North East team in serving humanity whether it is continuing the weekly Langar for the third year where high-quality food is provided to everyone including the patients, organising Blood Donation Camps to help Cancer patients, or providing Oxygen Concentrators to a large population in Assam free of charge.

Dr. Kataki stated that the Water Point will greatly benefit patients and their attendants, as well as residents of BBCI because it has met a significant need for people who previously had to purchase water.

He also urged users to keep the Water Point clean and beautiful.

While welcoming the guests, Capt PP Singh, Chairman Khalsa Centre North East, stated that during their nearly three-year association with BBCI, their effort has been to help the suffering Cancer patients in any way possible, be it by arranging blood for them or providing weekly Langar food consisting of high-quality hygienic items, and they felt the water was a major crisis for people on the campus, so their team decided to setup a water point with filtered cold water.

He thanked the BBCI management for giving them an opportunity to serve the needy.

He also thanked the donors who have always been generous to Khalsa Centre projects, such as Sanjeev Garodia and Binay Garodia, Charanjit Kaur Hanspal, Harvinder Kaur and Amarpal Singh, and others, for donating these water coolers and assisting in the construction of this beautiful water point and making it possible to set up this water point.

PP Singh reiterated that their goal is to fight hunger in accordance with their slogan, GURU NANAK'S LANGAR FOR ZERO HUNGER, and urged the Assam government to grant them two bighas of land in the city on which they intend to build a modern kitchen for the needy as part of their fight against hunger, as well as a charity complex to assist the needy.

After the inauguration of the Water Point, there was a bee line for water both cold and hot as people like Binu Bordoloi from Tinsukia, Tulsi Basumatari from, Rabia Khatun from Nagaon, Dabesh Kalita from Goalpara, and M Nath from Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh it was a big relief as most of them were spending between 100 to 300 rupees every day on drinking water and hot water as many had 2 to 5 people staying there looking after their patients and now they are getting it for free thus thanked the members of Khalsa Centre North East for helping them.
