Muralidharan was going to meet the family of Biswajit Mahesh, a Bharatiya Janata Party worker, who had lost his life in post-poll violence.

"Police advised us not to go after the attack on my convoy at Paanchkuri," said Muralidharan.

The police had informed the press that though they have initiated a probe against the miscreants, no one has been arrested so far.

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda had also condemned the attack and said that the law and order in Bengal had completely collapsed and if a minister had been attacked then what would happen to the common people there?
