New Delhi, November 10, 2019:

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced that it will not form the government in Maharashtra as they are lagging behind in numbers.

The announcement came up a day after the Maharashtra state Governor invited the BJP to form the government.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met the state Governor and informed him that his party will not stake claim to form the government.

Two back-to-back core group meetings were held by the BJP on Sunday to decide on the formation of the government.

Maharashtra BJP chief, Chandrakant Patil said, “We do not have the numbers to form the government.”

BJP and Shiv Sena are yet to resolve the tussle over the power-sharing.

To ensure that none of their MLAs is poached by the BJP, the Shiv Sena and the Congress have moved their MLAs to different hotels. Shiv Sena has been demanding an equal share of power in the government that entails the rotation of CM post which the BJP refused.
