BJP leader arrested in SI exam scam

Assam Police has arrested another accused in the SI exam scam on Sunday. The accused Jintu Nath was apprehended on Sunday morning.

Nath is the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bezera Circle in Jalukbari constituency.

Fugitive Jintu Nath has been arrested by Chaiduar police from Sonitpur’s Jamguri area and will be brought to Guwahati later today.

On Saturday, a huge amount of cash was recovered from a house in Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon district. The police recovered the money amounting crores after they raided the house of one Tarani Banikya at Borigan.

Tarani Banikya is the father-in-law of one Rupam Das who has been arrested from Bongaigaon in connection with the SI exam scam. Rupam Das is a loco pilot in the Northeast Frontier Railway.

Rupam is a friend of Rubul Hazarika who was arrested earlier in connection with the scam. Rubul Hazarikawas associated with Akshay Telecommunication of Bongaigaon, the company which got the sub-contract to conduct the written exam.

Earlier, former Assam Police DIG PK Dutta, the main accused in the SI recruitment scam, was arrested in Nepal. Dutta who is said to be the main mastermind in the leakage of the question paper was on the run. After huge public outcry, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a swift investigation as a result of which PK Dutta was finally reported arrested in Nepal.

The Assam Police investigating team besides raiding Dutta’s residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari also raided his many hotels and properties in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.

Another main accused former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Diban Deka surrendered before the Police and is being interrogated at the Assam Police SB Branch in Guwahati. The Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination had to be canceled after the alleged leak of the question paper on social media.
