KOLKATA: Bharatiya Janata Party’s West Bengal unit general secretary Sayantan Basu has allegedly raked up a row if a recent video, released by All India Trinamool Congress, is to be believed.

In the video, Basu can be heard threatening political opponents of using the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) against them.

“I will instruct CRPF to shoot at their chest, not feet,” Basu is heard saying by the end of the video.

Bloodshed marred the festival of democracy in the fourth phase of West Bengal assembly polls in Cooch Behar district on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Sitalkuchi constituency where five people, including four shot dead by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), died in “self-defense” of the central force according to a report submitted with the Election Commission (EC).

Though Trinamool Congress and the BJP have been blaming each other for the bloodshed, the recently released video of BJP leader Basu has given a whole new twist to the plot.

“Police will be locked in the respective stations. Will not let them come out of them there. Be certain during this election period, the police will just parade on this ground,” Basu can be heard claiming in the video.

A Twitter user also shared the video claiming the same –

The BJP leaders, including Basu, are yet to react to the matter. Though InsideNE tried to contact Sayantan Basu, the phone calls went unanswered.
