BJP will not Allow a Single Foreigner to Enter Assam, Claims Ranjeet Dass

Guwahati, January 2, 2019:

Assam BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Thursday, amid raging nationwide protests against the Citizenship Act, assured that the saffron party would not allow a single foreigner to enter the State.

Addressing the media here today, Dass stated, "In the air and sky of Assam rumours have been swirling that 1.3 crore Bangladeshis are going to come and establish bases in every nook and cranny in of every village in Assam. There are 54 lakh at the border, they said. Today is January 2..22 days have passed since the C(A)B was passed. There were rumours that lakhs of foreigner would come to Assam and usurp the land and the tea gardens owned by the Assamese."

"We are Assamese, and I reiterate, as long as 42 lakh BJP karyakartas are here, not a single foreigner can come to Assam", Dass said, adding that the people have been 'misled' and their emotions are being used against them.

Holding the Congress party responsible for the , Dass stated, "Rajiv Gandhi fooled the people during the signing of the Accord, and set the cut-off date as 1971, which led to the influx of lakhs of foreigners."

Dass further demanded the leaders of the Congress party to apologize to the kin of the 855 martyrs of the Assam Agitation, adding that the Congress leaders do not have the right to talk about the rights of the indigenous people of Assam.

Meanwhile, people across Assam are protesting against the amendment of the Citizenship Act, that was rammed though both Houses of the Parliament by BJP majorities.
