Crude Bombs hurled at BJP MP's residence; holds TMC responsible

KOLKATA: Three crude bombs were hurled at Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arjun Singh’s residence on this morning in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district.

According to the reports, the bombs were allegedly hurled by three men on a bike at the home of the BJP MP at Jagatdal, around 100 km from Kolkata at around 6.30 am.

Reportedly, no one was injured and police are investigating the incident. As per the reports, Arjun Singh was in Delhi and have not reacted to the incident yet. He might be back in Kolkata later today.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took to Twitter, stating, “Wanton violence in West Bengal shows no sign of abating. Bomb explosions as this morning outside the residence of Member Parliament Arjun Singh is worrisome on law and order. Expect prompt action (by Bengal Police). As regards his security the issue has been earlier been flagged @MamataOfficial,"

The governor further added that he would expect immediate action from the state police. Regarding, Singh’s security was concerned, the issue had been earlier raised to chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

On the other hand, The Trinamool Congress stated that the bomb attack was a result of the Bengal BJP's internal feud.

As per reports, Arjun Singh was earlier a Trinamool MLA who later joined the BJP in 2019 and won in the general elections from the Barrackpore parliamentary constituency.

Police have reached the spot and are investigating for evidence.
