KOKRAJHAR: Amid reports that the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has sent a large delegation of its members to Congress stronghold Chhattisgarh, a video has emerged that shows several of its candidates enjoying a meal at a guesthouse in an undisclosed location.

The video has been shot by one of the employees of the guesthouse with a 'hidden cam', and shows the BPF leaders, including the newly defected Durgadas Boro, indulging in banter about the rival BJP.

If our sources are to be believed, this video -- which is spreading like wildfire on social media platforms across Chhattisgarh -- has emerged from a guest house in Chitrakoot in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have demanded the ouster of the BPF contingent due to the surge in Covid-19 cases and prevailing tensions in the district.

District Administration in Chhattisgarh's Bastar on Wednesday announced the imposition of complete lockdown in the district from April 15 evening till April 22 night to check coronavirus.

Kedar Kashyap, a local BJP leader and former cabinet minister, questioned the government over its hosting of the leaders from another state amid the ongoing crisis in Chhattisgarh.

"Is there any rule for the people who have come from Assam? If there was a corona test, did the government publicize the result? They are arranging mutton, pork, and alcohol for these people. The state government should instead shift its focus towards the corona afflicted in the state instead of these tourists from Assam," he said, adding, "I hereby urge the state government to evict these people and improving the health infrastructure for the corona."

According to reports, several BPF candidates who arrived in Raipur via special aircraft from Assam have been sent to the Maoist-infested Bastar by road. They will remain in Bastar until May 2 in ‘undisclosed locations.’ It needs mention here that the counting of votes in Assam will take place on the same date.

Earlier, reports said that the Hagrama Mohilary-led party shifted five-six candidates to Goa and Sikkim for “vacation”.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, and in-charge Secretary Vikas Upadhyay are some of the leaders of the state who campaigned for the Congress and its Mahajot allies in the last election.

It is believed that some more candidates may also be sent to Chhattisgarh where they will be allowed to communicate with only a handful of leaders.
