TAMULPUR: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leader and former Tamulpur MLA Chandi Basumatary has thrown his weight behind opposition alliance candidate Leho Ram Boro for the ensuing polls in Assam.

Asked about his surprising decision, he said, "I will use all my workers to go to each village to campaign for the more eligible candidate so that he can be the Tamulpur MLA."

It is pertinent to mention here that Basumatary has been denied a party ticket from the Constituency. Instead, the BPF, which is now a part of the Congress led Mahajoth, has decided to field newcomer Ronhja Khungur Basumatary. It was reportedly the decision of BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary himself.

A huge bike rally was held in Tamulpur to drum up support for the BJP-GSP backed UPPL candidate Leho Ram Boro.

According to our sources, more than 3,000 people joined the mega bike rally to boost Boris morale ahead of the polls.

Election campaigns of various political parties are going on even as the model code of conduct has come into force in the lead up to the elections.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member Daobaisa Boro formally inaugurated the rally together with BTC executive member Dharmnarayan Das.

Daobaisha Boro said the public is now in the search of change.

"It is in the search for change that the people have deposed the Hagrama Mahilady-led BTC and instead chose Pramod Boro to replace him."

Since there is a BJP led government at the Centre, and the BJP government in the state has taken up welfare schemes for the highest level of development of the common man, the BJP led government will be formed again in the state, he predicted.

Daobaisa Boro also claimed that Leho Ram Boro will "definitely win with a record number of votes in Tamulpur assembly constituency this time."

The bike rally was taken out from Ghogrchwok in Tamulpur and moved through Tamulpur, Kumarikata, Kawli, Nagrijuli, Laopara, Ramechuburi, Latibari, Gandhibari, and Kachubari before it reached its final destination.
