BAKSA: Biswajit Daimary, the former Rajya Sabha MP and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) Working President, who quit the party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that the former party's leaders have lost the trust of the people which is why the party will lose in the elections that will officially get underway tomorrow.

"The BPF party rose to power three times. Nobody can become the CEM, or EM with the public's support. In a democracy, when people lose the trust in the leaders, they are bound to lose their influence and posts. This should be a lesson to the leaders. They should realize why they have lost the trust of the people and hopefully, they will do social service so as to once again return to the good graces of the public," Daimary told reporters in Baksa.

"Most of the people have switched to the BJP side and the BPF will be a non-factor here. The BJP win win a majority of the seats," Daimary stated, adding that he wishes to become either a Panchayat President or the VCDC Chairman to tackle the grassroots issues.

“I am not contesting the polls. If I am made the Panchayat President or the VCDC Chairman, that will be suitable so I can connect with the grassroots to figure out why the schemes rolled out by the Centre as well as State are not being implemented,” Daimary said, adding, “If I made the President of the Panchayat or the President of the VCDC, I will be more than satisfied as I will be able to work with the downtrodden."

Daimary added that he wants to ensure that everybody gets the benefits of the schemes of the Government.
