KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary said the BPF will announce its second phase Assam assembly election candidates’ list on March 12 and 15.
Former Bodoland Territorial Council chief Mohilary, while leaving for Guwahati today from here, said: “I am leaving for Guwahati today. And, most probably I will be campaigning for the grand alliance in 18 constituencies that will go to polls in the first phase,” Mohilary said.
Asked about the candidates’ list for the other two phases, Mohilary said: “BPF will declare its candidates’ list for the second phase on March 12 and 15.”
About its former ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Hagrama also said: “The grand alliance will get a minimum of 70 seats and form the government this time. The BJP can speak a lot, but cannot reach 100+ in reality. It will be behind us.”
BPF was a long-term ally of the Congress before they decided to join hands with the BJP in the Assam assembly elections 2016. But, after facing “humiliation” and “insults” by the BJP, Mohilary again joined hands with the Congress and is hell-bent upon dethroning the BJP this time and form Mahajoth government in Assam.
