Breaking: 1st COVID-19 Positive Woman in Kalimpong Dies

Kalimpong, March 30, 2020:

The 44-year-old resident of Kalimpong, West Bengal who tested positive of COVID-19 on Saturday evening has died of the virus.

The woman from Kalimpong was also the first case of COVID-19 in North Benagl. She was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), Siliguri.

Sources said she died around 1:30 AM on Monday. She was admitted on March 26. The 44-year-old hailing from Kalimpong had a travel history and was kept in the isolation ward of the NBMCH after she tested positive. The woman had recently returned from Chennai and later tested positive for COVID-19.

However, she breathed her last on Monday.
