Breaking: Akhil Gogoi's mother hospitalized after deterioration in health

JORHAT: Incarcerated peasant leader Akhil Gogoi's mother Priyada Gogoi has been admitted to the Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) today after a sudden deterioration in her health.

 

"Priyada Gogoi's health deteriorated rather quickly. She was rushed to the hospital at 11:20 am in the morning. Doctors are performing check-ups and are yet to release any statement," a source informed Inside Northeast.

 

Last night, Priyadaaaa's sugar levels rose uncontrollably, she was vomiting, and also lost her sight, the source further informed.

 

Priyada was also "hospitalized" on October 22 due to "old-age related ailments."

Meanwhile, Priyada’s son, Akhil, is still incarcerated due to his role in the agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in December of 2019. Gogoi, the leader of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), was arrested on December 12, 2019, from Jorhat, during the height of the anti-CAA protests in the state, as a “preventive measure” in view of the deteriorating law and order situation. Three of Gogoi’s associates were taken into custody the next day.

 

The peasant leader has been imprisoned since December 12, 2019 on charges of sedition and having links with Maoists.

 

It needs mention here three-judge bench of justices NV Ramanna, Surya Kant, and Aniruddha Basu will for the first time hear the bail plea of Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi in the Supreme Court on February 11.

 

Akhil Gogoi's plea will be heard vide case No. SLP (Crl) No 1050/2021.
