BREAKING | Arunachal protestors move to CM Pema Khandu’s residence after burning Deputy CM Chowna Mein's house

The situation of unrest that is prevailing in Arunachal Pradesh regarding the granting of ST status to non-Arunachal Pradesh STs continues to escalate.

An enraged mob has thronged the house of Arunachal’s Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and set fire to his house. According to reports, a vehicle belonging to the Deputy CM has also been burned. It has been reported that clashes have also broken out between protestors and the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel outside the official residence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Meanwhile, the house of Nabam Rebia, Environment and Forest Minister, who is also the Chairman of the PRC Joint Power High Committee (JPHC) has also been burned.

Meanwhile, the ITBP personnel, who have been patrolling the streets of Itanagar trying to bring law and order have found the going tough and they have been met with resistance by the protestors and they have been unable to contain the situation thus far.

As per reports, clashes which began at 12 pm continued well into the wee hours of the morning and sporadic stone-pelting and gunshots were reportedly heard at the site in Itanagar.
