GUWAHATI: Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev moments earlier in a Facebook post said that he has finally been "kicked out" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Not known for mincing his words, Dev wrote, "Finally I have been kicked out from BJP."

Dev has publicly expressed his disappointment amid the party's resolve to hand Hojai to alliance partners 'Asom Gana Parishad.'

Although InsideNE tried reaching out to Dev, he was not available for a comment.

Notably, Hojai constituency was conspicuously missing when the BJP announced its first list of 70 candidates last Friday.

Dev later that day took to Facebook to express his woes invoking nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ase Tobe Ekla Cholo Re (If no one responds to your call, then go your own way alone),” Dev wrote, the famous lines of the Bengali song written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1905.

In 2016, Dev won from the Hojai constituency with more than 54 percent of the tallied votes.

Dev, who has a PG diploma in journalism from Bharatia Vidya Bhawan in New Delhi, is infamous for his communal utterances.

The MLA's vehement and unwavering support for the Citizenship Amendment Act has also earned him the wrath of a section of citizens.

Dev last year announced publicly that he would quit the party over differences "with a certain person." He also said that

The MLA, holding a press conference at his constituency Hojai, said that he had chosen to "retire" from the party because of "groupism" and "neglect."

However, he later announced that he had reconsidered his move to quit the BJP.
