BREAKING: Samujjal Bhattacharya consents to stay on as Chief Adviser of AASU

GUWAHATI: Samujjal Bhattacharya, a long-time member of the All Assam Students' Union, has given his consent to once again take charge as the Chief Adviser of the apex student body of Assam. Dr Bhattacharjya had earlier publicly declared that he would retire from the AASU during a recently held conference in Duliajan.

Confirming this development to Inside Northeast, Sankar Jyoti Baruah, the newly appointed General Secretary of the apex students' body said, "Mr. Bhattacharya has just given his consent to again take charge as the Chief adviser of the AASU. A final decision in this regard shall be taken at the next Executive meeting of the AASU. Meanwhile, we are organizing a farewell for outgoing General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi."

This information has come to light amid intense speculations that the AASU leader would finally hang up his boots after a long and illustrious association with the organization.

However, Bhattacharya said he will reconsider his decision of retirement after thousands of AASU workers demanded that he continue his stint with the student body.

“It’s an emotional decision of my life….as I said I will continue to work for AASU and people of Assam till my last breath,” Bhattacharya said.

Videos from the Convention that went viral on social medis showed teary-eyed AASU workers urging the leader to stay on at the student organization.
