Kokrajhar: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary has reiterated that his party is likely to win 28 seats of the 37 seats that it shall contest in the ensuing BTC elections. Despite stiff opposition from the likes of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), Hagrama exuded hope that his party will once again be able to form the government after winning a majority of the seats.

Mohilary made this prediction at a block-level party workers' workshop which was held Halangbazar for Banargaon and Dotma constituencies in Kokrajhar district. Making an address, Mohilary said that the BTR election is going to be held in the first week of December next. However, the date is yet to be fixed. Assam's Finance, Health, and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also earlier said that the delayed polls in the BTR would be held in December, bringing an end to the Governor's rule in the region that began when the BPF party-led administration came to an end.

Addressing his supporters today, a confident Hagrama claimed that his BPF party is getting massive support from across the region and accordingly, shall be winning a good number of seats in the BTC elections. Mohilary said that the BPF party was working for all-round development and welfare for the common masses in the region.

Hagrama has informed that a multi religious prayer programme would be organised in all primary level from 27th October after Durga Puja celebration for the free and fair BTR elections in the region. He said that women's mass gathering shall be held at block level in across the four districts of the BTR.

An interactive session with the village headman and intellectuals of the society shall also be organised in the region ahead of the BTR elections, Hagrama said.
