BTC Polls: 80% turnout recorded in Chirang and Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The fates of the 131 candidates have been sealed in ballot boxes as the phase II of the 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was concluded on Thursday evening that turned nearly 80% poll percentage amidst a strict security vigil for 19 constituencies in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.

There was no report of repoll in both the districts although a few acts of poll-related violence were reported from some of the centers.

The counting of the votes will be held on December 12 across the four districts of the BTAD.

The overall poll percentage of phase II was turned near about 80% percentage in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts that saw healthy peaceful and massive participation of voters.

UPPL president Pramod Boro said that people from the districts have participated enthusiastically in the council elections which were concluded in a free and fair environment.

He has expressed his hope that his UPPL party will be winning majority seats in both phases of the council elections.

He has extended sincere thanks to all citizens who have participated in the voting franchise in the council elections.

He reached the polling center along with his wife Sewly Mohilary and two sons.

Mohilary has claimed that his BPF party shall be having a fourth consecutive term of BTAD administration with winning majority seats.

He said that people from all sections of communities have voted in favor of the BPF party in the council elections.

He added that the BPF party was working for all-round development and welfare aspects of the society.

Brahma reached the polling center along with his wife. Brahma has expressed his confidence in winning majority seats in the council elections.
