The flying squads of the Election Commission, Assam police and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) have seized Rs 53 lakh in cash and liquor worth Rs 3.93 crore from various parts of the state in the last 48 hours.
In the last 10 days, the flying squads, Assam police and Static Surveillance Teams have seized Rs 3.25 crore in cash from various parts of the state. Moreover, these teams have seized huge quantities of liquor worth Rs 5.04 crore.
On 7 and 8 March, the flying squads and Assam police seized 17106 litres of liquor from various parts of Assam. The Excise department alone seized 28541 litres of liquor from various parts of the state on March 7. The flying squads also seized contraband worth 65 lakhs on March 7 from across the state. On March 8, the flying squads seized Rs 19 lakh in cash and 19829 litres of liquor. Moreover, the Excise department of Assam seized 41690 litres of liquor worth over Rs 3.51 crore.

In addition, 23 cases regarding violation of MCC have been reported in several districts of the poll-bound state till March 6.
It may be mentioned that the Election Commission has kept a strong vigil upon any complaint of a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and keeping close vigil against any suspicious movement of cash, valuables, liquor, contraband etc in the state.
