The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams for class 10th and 12th have been cancelled. The exams may be conducted when the COVID-19 situation gets normal.

The Solicitor General told the Supreme Court to cancel the pending CBSE board exams scheduled in July.

The exams were pending due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the country which has infected over 4.73 lakh in the country.

Even though ICSE had made appearing for the ICSE 12th exams optional for students across India, that option has now been scrapped.

The internal assessment system will be followed to declare the ICSE board exam results for classes 10 and 12. No option is now available for students to appear for the board exams.

Meanwhile, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the class 12th examination results today. The overall pass percentage of the Arts stream is 78.28, 88.18 in Commerce stream and 88.06 in Science stream.

Darrang registered highest pass percentage in Arts with 89.07 stream followed by 87.39 Jorhat while in Commerce stream, Chirang, Majuli and W Karbi Anglong registered 100 percent pass percentage and in Science stream, Sivasagar tops with 95.97 percentage followed by 95.44 Baksa.

A total of 131794 out of 1,68,367 candidates cleared the examination in Arts streams while 15619 out of 17713 cleared in Commerce stream and 34847 out of 39574 in Science stream.

The overall pass percentage in Arts stream in 2019 was 75.14 and 74.68 in 2018 while in Commerce stream, 87.59 in 2019 and 84.64 in 2018 and in Science stream, 86.59 in 2019 and 85.74 in 2018.

Pubali Deka of Patharighat HS School, Darrang, and Shraddha Borgohain of Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon topped the Arts stream with 481 total marks. Krishna Maheswari of Salt Brook Academy, Dibrugarh, topped in the Commerce stream with 471 total marks while Abinash Kalita of Anundoram Barooah Academy, Barpeta topped in the Science stream with 486.
