Silchar: A joint inspection of the border areas where Central Armed Police Forces will be deployed along the Assam-Mizoram inter state border was carried out by the civil and police administrations of Cachar on Thursday.

Disclosing this information, Circle Officer, Sonai, Sudeep Nath said the joint inspection was carried out by the civil and police administrations in the areas along the inter-state border where Central forces will be deployed soon.

Keerthi Jalli, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, DIG of the Southern Range Dilip Kumar Dey, IGP Dipak Kedia, SP Bhanwar Lal Meena, and other senior officials of civil and police administrations made the joint inspection of the border areas.

It may be recalled that Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua had disclosed that Central forces would be deployed along the border after a law and order review meeting with the district administrations of three districts of Barak Valley. As per reports, the deployment of troopers will be done "to ease the border tension."

The Chief Secretary exuded optimism that the deployment of Central forces would help to restore peace and tranquility on both sides of the border.
