Centre gives approval to Mawshynrut-Hahim road

SHILLONG: The Centre has given the administrative approval and financial sanction for the construction of the Mawshynrut (West Khasi Hills) to Hahim (Kamrup) road.

The Meghalaya government had long been pressing the Centre for the road along with three others in the state.

The 37 km road has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 99.76 crore under  the North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) of DoNER ministry.

“Administrative approval and financial sanction has been accorded for the construction of the Mawshynrut to Hahim Road with an estimated cost of ₹99.76 Cr. under NERSDS of

@MDoNER_India. Thank Hon’ble Union MoS, @DrJitendraSinghJi for his timely intervention,” tweeted Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking to his Twitter handle to state: “Gratitude to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi
