RAHA: Child rights body ASCPCR today informed that it has been brought to it's notice that that 12-year-old minor who was charred to death was not pregnant.

"It has been brought to the knowledge of the ASCPCR that the post mortem report of the deceased child confirms no pregnancy and that the same was however stated in ASCPCR report", it said, adding that only some neighbours had informed that the girl was pregnant.

This is a clarification that the Ascpcr had written to the SP in the second letter to incorporate sections of POCSO in the chargesheet after it was reported by neighbours that the girl was pregnant, it said.

"It was mentioned in the letter to the SP so that if the child was meted out with sexual offences, the same can be verified and established," it said.

The organization further added that it never gave any statement anywhere.

"We wrote to the SP in our second letter that the ASCPCR has been informed by the neighbours that the girl was pregnant. So it is requested to incorporate the relevant sections of POCSO Act."

It clarified a mix-up and informed that it merely made some recommendations.

"Our team has visited Nagaon a couple of days ago and on the basis of that we are going to give some recommendations to police which will help the enquiry process. And while the investigation is ongoing, we shall not make any statement further", it added.
