After CBSE, CISCE cancels Class X exams; students to get promoted without exams

NEW DELHI: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has decided to cancel the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ICSE), 2021 in view of the surge in the COVID-19 positive cases across the nation.

CISCE had released a notification signed by Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the board, where it was stated that the options are given in the earlier circular dated April 16 had been withdrawn.

The notification also directed the CISCE affiliated schools to begin the admission process for Class XI and start online classes at the earliest for the students.

The examinations scheduled for Class XII will, however, remain the same as per the circular issued on April 16 which was delayed earlier than usual.

In the circular issued on April 16, the students of Class X and Class XII were supposed to appear for the examination on May 4.

Earlier this week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) canceled its Class X board examinations.
