New Delhi, September 18, 2019:

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has authorized citizens to shoot corrupt officials of the country.

Duterte, in a recent speech, said that anyone could shoot non-lethal bullets at officials who commit acts of corruption in Philippines.

He said that if one has a gun, s/he can shoot them, but not kill them. He added that citizens should also slap them instead of if an official asked for bribe.

People who target corrupt officials would be just accused of causing injuries and not be sent to prison. He said that they would be charged of causing physical injuries and would be released on parole.

The President has called for cutting down on the rising corrupt practices in Philippines.

It is to be noted that President Rodrigo Duterte has acknowledged that corruption was one of the biggest problems under his government.

Duterte, additionally, renewed an offer of big bounties for hundreds of convicted murderers and rapists who were set free in a corrections bureau blunder, and said he would be happier if they were caught dead rather than alive.

The Philippines President’s bold comments of allowing citizens to shoot corrupt officials and offering huge bounties for convicted culprits in murder and rape cases have shocked many.
