CJI Ranjan Gogoi asks Gauhati High Court Chief Justice to clear long pending cases

Guwahati, August 4, 2019:

Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi on Sunday asked the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Alok Kumar Goswami to clear the pending cases in the court as soon as possible.

The CJI mentioned that over 1,000 cases have been registered in the courts across the country for almost last 50 years.

The statement was made while laying the foundation stone of the Auditorium of Gauhati high Court here at Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned that CJI Ranjan Gogoi has been always vocal about the role of the courts in the country and is known for his instant action strategies.

During the event, the CJI further mentioned that out of 90 lakh cases pending in the civil courts, for over 20 lakh cases, summons are yet to be served.
