Guwahati, December 31, 2019:
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday has announced to provide corpus funds to the different indigenous ‘Sahitya Sabha’ of the state.
CM Sarbananda Sonowal met representatives of the ‘Assam Sahitya Sabha’ and 21 other indigenous ‘Sahitya Sabhas’ at his official residence in Guwahati.
CM Sonowal took to his official Twitter handle and announced, “To keep alive and promote our rich linguistic traditions, we will also provide Corpus Fund of ₹ 10 crore to Asam Sahitya Sabha, ₹ 5 crore to Bodo Sahitya Sabha and ₹ 3 crore to other indigenous Sahitya Sabhas of the state.”
Moreover, an annual interest of Rs. 80 lakhs will be received by the Assam Sahitya Sabha, Rs. 40 lakhs by Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Rs. 24 lakhs by the others from the corpus fund.
On the other hand, 1,000 new authors from different communities of Assam are to receive one-time financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 under the ‘Bhasha Gourav Achoni’.
