GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister  Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the release of the employee of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ritul Saikia who was abducted by The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent ( ULFA-I ).

Ritul Saikia was released by the banned outfit at 7. 5 am this morning along the India-Myanmar border.

On April 21, three ONGC workers, including Saikia, were kidnapped from a rig site in Sivasagar.

Security forces in Nagaland rescued the other two abductees, Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia, three days later.

Ritul Saikia is a junior engineer assistant in ONGC.
