JORHAT: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has visited abducted ONGC employee Ritul Saikia's family in Titabar today with Bharatiya Janata Party MPs Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Pallab Lochan Das and Topon Kumar Gogoi.

Sarma had given assurance to Saikia's family that the Assam government is standing with the family in their trying times and giving their best to rescue Ritul Saikia at the earliest.

While speaking with the media Sarma said, "ULFA has declared a unilateral ceasefire. It's a good sign. We may now dare to assume that they might be ready for a possible bilateral discussion which is very necessary."

Sarma added further, "It's has been going since 1984-85. We got nothing from it. Many mothers have lost their sons in these years. Hence I would request ULFA to come for a discussion. Let's see at what sort of agreeable conclusion we may reach."

ULFA-I had abducted three Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd employees Alakesh Saikia, Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Ritul Saikia on April 21 from a rig site at Lakwa.

While security forces have claimed to rescue Alakesh Saikia and Mohini Mohan Gogoi on April 24, on the other hand, Ritul Saikia remained untraced.
