CM Sonowal Must Apologize for Misleading People on Assam Accord: Samujjal Bhattacharya

Guwahati, January 17, 2020:

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya demanded Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to seek an unconditional apology from the people of Assam for misleading the people on Assam Accord.

The AASU chief placed the demand while attending the 69th Silpi Divas celebrations at Banekuchi in Assam’s Nalbari district.

Samujjal Bhattacharya slammed the Chief Minister and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that it has been clearly mentioned about the year 1971 in clause 5 of the Assam Accord, “…but these leaders have been misleading the people of Assam,” he said.

He clarified that 1971 is the year that was mentioned in the Assam Accord in the past It has been there and will be there in the future.

Bhattacharya has demanded the apology from CM Sonowal by arranging a special session of the Vidhan Sabha Assembly.
