‘Congress can appoint chiefs for other planets’: Assam CM on Congress appointing presidents in Europe
GUWAHATI: Recently, the Congress party appointed Presidents and office-bearers for its international unit– the Indian Overseas Congress.
Reacting to the appointments, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “After failing to elect a ‘chief’ post the 2019 debacle, the Congress is now appointing Chiefs in Europe.”
“The Grand old party continues to live in splendid delusion. Next, it can even appoint chiefs for other planets”, added the BJP leader taking a dig at the opposition party.
It is noteworthy that Congress has been operating without a regular president since 2019 after Rahul Gandhi stepped down from the post.

Apart from these members, the Party has also office-bearers and Core committee members of the Indian Overseas Congress in Europe.
In an official letter, the party informed that the appoitments have been made for a period of two years “with the responsibility to build and expand the Indian Oversees Congress Organization and insititution in the respective countries”.
“In this capacity, you are expected to identify and work with qualified, capable, committed and concerned people to lead the various initiatives of the IOC,” the Congress party said.
