GUWAHATI: Assam Congress president Ripun Bora today wrote to Governor Jagadish Mukhi demanding CBI and judicial probe regarding ongoing human organ trade and human rights violation by Assam Police under the BJP-led government.

Bora in his letter told Mukhi that the illegal human organ trade racket has been very active for the last 5 years in Assam under the rule of the BJP Government, adding that the Human organ sale market has been unearthed recently in Dharamtul under Morigaon district where 3 arrests were made recently.

"Romen Medhi an active worker of BJP and Lilimai Bodo who are in police custody unfolds many vital leads to the origin of this crime. They name two other suspects called Plaban Borthakur and Rajesh Poddar who are said to maintain a network related to kidney sales in various districts of the State. Absconding Plaban Borthakur set up an office at Ganashguri nearest to the capital of the State," Bora wrote in his letter.

In itself, it is a question how could it be possible that such a criminal racket has been in operation amidst a high-security zone, he added.

Bora in his communique further pointed out that more than 30 encounters took place during the last 2 months injuring and killing a number of accused after police arrested them.

"It is very surprising that in each encounter police version is that - Police had to shoot the accused arrested in connection with the crime of Drugs paddling, cow smuggling while the accused tried to escape from the police station under police custody, from police clutch and trying to snatch the weapon of the police," he added.

The Congressman has urged Mukhi to constitute a Judicial inquiry under a sitting Judge of the High Court, to enquire into these series of encounters made by police where a number of accused died.
