DHUBRI: The Assam state unit of the Congress today expelled former two-time MLA and senior leader Abu Taher Bepari as primary member of the party on charges of anti-party activity.

Bepari has drawn the party’s wrath by contesting the Assam Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Golakganj constituency.

While Bepari was a strong aspirant for the party ticket, the Congress has nominated Abdus Sobhan Ali Sarkar as its candidate for Golakganj in the Assam assembly elections 2021.
