KALAIGAON: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath today said accused the Congress of patronising and promoting insurgency and terrorism in the country and was still doing so allying with the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) in the Assam assembly elections 2021.

“If Assam is lagging behind in development, it is because of the Congress … Congress’s policy is to capture power by hook or crook and then patronise and promote insurgency, terrorism and secessionism. And, because of this their ally today is AIUDF that has been infamous for pratronising influx to Assam. The Congress is allying with a party that is encouraging influx and disgustingly conspiring to influence the elections,” the spiritual leader said.

“This is an election in which Assam will have to fight for its civilisation, culture and heritage,” he added addressing an election rally at Kalaigaon College Field here in favour of Kalaigaon BJP candidate Madhuram Deka as well as for Gurujyoti Das of Mangaldoi and Biswajit Daimary of Paneri.

Adityanath also said the BJP was committed to make Assam influx-free like the way it evicted encroachers from Satra land. “Nobody can be allowed to play with the security and integrity of India … As a new Assam has become part of India’s progress, the Assam government as well as the Centre are also working hand in hand to make Assam free from flood,” he said.

Earlier in the day at Lanka in Hojai constituency, Adityanath said Assam had to pay a heavy price in the form of insurgency and secessionism for a long time due to the Congress’s wrong policies. “The people of Assam had to pay a huge cost of the Congress’s wrong policies for a long time in the form of insurgency,” he said.

“Assam needs a BJP government because it is committed to make Assam free from infiltrators like the way the Sarbananda Sonowal government evicted encroachers from Srimanta Sankardeva’s Satra,” the saffron clad leader said.
