AGARTALA: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Tripura Kuljit Singh Nagra today said the Congress will come into power in the state in the 2023 state Assembly elections.

Nagra, along with former MP and All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev and national Youth Congress president Srinivas BV, was here today to attend a hunkar rally against the alleged misrule of the BJP government in the state.

“I want to visit Tripura to check what the Biplab Kumar Deb-led BJP government is doing for the poor people. So when I visited a tribal belt, I met a person who met with an accident. I asked him have you received any money from Ayushman Bharat scheme. He said he did not receive anything from the government and had to spend Rs 80,000 for treatment. This is the governance of Narendra Modi and Biplab Deb,” Nagra said.

He alleged that the needy people were deprived of all schemes supposedly launched for them.

“They don’t have ration cards. I want to ask chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Narendra Modi that who will look after these poor people of Tripura? It is shameful that people do not have access to drinking water. The Congress will form Garib ki sarkar (government for the poor) in Tripura. The Congress will come to power in Tripura, and the fight has already started,” Nagra said.

Apart from Nagra, PCC chief Pijush Kanti Biswas, former PCC chief Gopal Chandra Roy, Pradesh Youth Congress chief Pujan Biswas also attended the rally.
